Frequently Asked Questions

If you can't find an answer to your question here, please contact Christian Janssen, at c.p.janssen@uu.nl

What is the review process?
Papers are subject to the regular IJHCS review process (see https://www.editorialmanager.com/ijhc/). Our reviewer panel consists of experts in the area of human-automated vehicle interaction and computational cognitive modeling.

What's the policy for work that was published before?
We will only publish original work. If a paper has been published elsewhere (e.g., at a conference), the IJHCS version must be substantially different (i.e., 50% or more) from the version that has already been published. Please indicate in your cover letter that your paper is based on a conference submission.

Is this an open call?
Yes, anyone can submit a paper. Papers will be selected on content and feedback from reviewers.

Is my topic suitable for inclusion?
If you are unsure about the topic of your paper, please contact Christian Janssen to discuss this.

What format should my paper have?
Please follow the formatting guidelines of IJHCS, as can be found here: http://www.elsevier.com/journals/international-journal-of-human-computer-studies/1071-5819/guide-for-authors.

Is there a word limit?
For Word limits, we also follow the IJHCS submission guidelins. As is stated here: http://www.elsevier.com/journals/international-journal-of-human-computer-studies/1071-5819/guide-for-authors.
"Submissions to IJHCS should not be longer than 25K words, however we expect most submissions to be significantly shorter than this maximum limit."
We also encourage authors to aim for articles that are significantly shorter than the above maximum limit.

What should I submit as "highlights" for my article?
You can find information and examples of highlights on this site: http://www.elsevier.com/journal-authors/highlights.
You can find examples of highlights that were used in previous IJHCS papers by browsing some of the papers that are available online: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/10715819.
(when you click to view any of the papers, the highlights will appear above the abstract on the webpage).
